Venture Global LNG Announces Successful Comprehensive Test of Liquefaction Equipment for Calcasieu Pass

Venture Global LNG, Inc. is pleased to announce the success of the "string test" of the first mixed refrigerant compression system for the Calcasieu Pass plant in Venture Global at the Baker Hughes testing facility in Massa, Italy. The comprehensive test demonstrates the engineering, functionality and performance of the process system for Calcasieu Pass just seven months after the project's final investment decision - an important and revolutionary achievement for the industry.

The 10 MTPA Calcasieu Pass LNG project employs a comprehensive Baker Hughes process solution, utilizing highly efficient modular mid-scale liquefaction trains, factory-produced in Italy and shipped complete to the Calcasieu Pass site, currently in construction in Cameron Parish , Louisiana. Venture Global issued a complete advance notice to Baker Hughes in August 2019 concurrently with the project's final investment decision.

As part of the ongoing project execution, the comprehensive test was carried out with the first complete set of equipment, to test that all system components work together under normal operating conditions. The comprehensive test replicates and simulates site conditions, and each component to be shipped to and operated from the site is fine-tuned and validated to verify the functionality and performance of the entire system. The test performs an evaluation of mechanical performance and measures equipment vibration and bearing temperatures, at full speed and at full load. Auxiliary and control systems are also calibrated, which minimizes these activities in the territory. The success of the comprehensive test demonstrates the robustness of the project design,

In a demonstration of innovation and commitment to maintaining the project schedule, Baker Hughes and Venture Global used state-of-the-art virtual technology to conduct the test against the limiting conditions imposed by COVID-19. Globally, the test involved 21 people in five cities around the world monitoring the test using advanced digital and video remote access, as well as local on-site technicians, from both Baker Hughes and Venture Global, who were doing direct observation in Massa .
